Character Quality: Joyful

Joy is living life to it’s fullest.

Joy celebrates.

Joy dances.

Joy smiles.

Joy trusts.

Joy hopes.

Joy loves.

Joy perseveres.

Joy waits.

Joy believes.

Joy is a choice, a mindset, a determination. Joy sees beyond a circumstance or a situation. Joy focuses on forever instead of the fleeting. Joy rests in Him Who holds the future, in Him Who alone is Able, in the Hope of the nations.

Joy does not wait on things to change, it changes things because of it’s confidence in God’s love. Joy does not depend on man, does not hate man, does not ignore man. Joy is free to forgive, free to go forward, free to fly.

One of this season’s greatest carols is “Joy to the World”.  Isaac Watts wrote this hymn that highlights the impact of Christ’s birth to the world. His coming means the arrival of real joy to the world, not momentary happiness that is short-lived and unpredictable.

As Christians, those who have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have been given real joy. Because of His gift, we have reason to celebrate, to sing, to give gifts. Like the lame man who was healed and went about “jumping and leaping and praising God’ as a result of what had been done for him in Jesus’ name, we too should live in worship of our King.

As moms we should be joy conduits. The joy we have in the Lord in all that He has done in and through our lives. Let us focus on what we have in our heavenly home with our Savior. Let us allow that assurance of our salvation be our strength, be our peace, be our joy.

Let us look our children in the eyes. Let us smile at them, laugh with them and point them to heaven. Let us tell them about the Lord Who has come. Let us worship Him. Let us be joyful.

I had it going on—or so I thought. After surviving sixty-three months of pregnancy, countless sleepless nights, and 35,000+ diapers, this one-time control freak encountered God’s grace. And I’m here to encourage you to do the same! I love encouraging and inspiring moms to grow deeper in their walk and relationship with our Heavenly Father.

I’ve been married to my beloved, Davis, since 1986; our life has been a roller-coaster ride, with God at the controls. We have seven kids and let me tell you our family loves to laugh! I enjoy playing in the dirt, eating dark chocolate, and walking on the beach. I’m an author and speaker and I am passionate about helping moms not only survive motherhood, but draw near to the Father and thrive in motherhood.

I’m so glad you’re here.
